North Carolina’s agricultural roots run deep, a rich history exemplified by its century farms. Many generational farming families still work the same land today, supporting local economies and safeguarding rural landscapes. We were fortunate to recently complete a conservation easement with one such family in Caswell County, permanently protecting nearly 100 acres of cropland, timber and natural springs that they’ve been tending to for nearly 100 years. Annie and Wallace Compton were proud to protect their little slice of history, and were honored to help them achieve their dream. That said, keeping up with Wallace is another matter entirely…
