HUBERS FARM

The Trust is proud to announce a “first in the nation” partnership success in Hyde County, NC. Working with the NC Agricultural Development and Farmland Protection Trust Fund (ADFPTF), the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Service and the US Department of Defense, the Trust just closed on a 411 acre working farmland easement, owned by the Hubers Family.

This is the second easement the Hubers have worked on with WLT, but the first in the country to enjoy conservation funding from three sources – state, federal and military. The group coordinated and agreed upon a “common template” easement that satisfies all the respective agencies, the landowners and WLT, keeping the conservation values protected and the farmland being farmed. Sincere thanks to the Hubers family for its patience though the process and commitment to conservation. You can read the full press release, here.
